Sekundarni naslov: Teaching Inline Skating to Blind Children
Sekundarni povzetek: Inline skating is a modern time individual sport in which children and adults take part. It is a versatile sport, since it affects muscles of the whole body, but mostly the lower body ones. Due to the relatively high speed and the risk for injury, the importance of the use of safety equipment and observance of the safety regulations is emphasized through my undergraduate thesis. The thesis includes explanations of the basic concepts connected to blindness, the reasons why it occurs and recommendations on how to work with blind people concerning communication as well as everyday life. The blind have the same need for physical activity as everyone else and their motor skills can be developed to the same extend. However, when it comes to learning new skills they sometimes require more individual help and systematic approach. As part of my thesis work, the blind and partially sighted children from the Institute for the Blind and Partially Sighted in Ljubljana were taught how to do inline skating. Through five day course, the children were taught all the basics. When working with blind and partially sighted children, it is important to follow some special recommendations, so the usual ways of teaching inline skating were combined with those and a plan suitable for the specific group was made. This plan included the description of all the basic inline skating elements and the ways on how to teach them to the blind or partially sighted kids.
