magistrsko delo
Uporabili smo vprašalnik narcisizma (NPI-40), lestvico hipersenzitivnega narcisizma (HSNS), lestvico zadovoljstva z življenjem (SWLS) in lestvico pozitivnega in negativnega afekta (PANAS).

ǂThe ǂconnection between narcissism as a personality trait and subjective well-being |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Modern society faces the rise of narcissism as the primary mode of operation, which is characterized by sense of grandiose self-importance, conviction of one's extraordinariness, fantasizing about power, success, beauty and uniqueness. Main personality traits of narcissistic individuals are excessive self-admiration, feelings of superiority and exploiting of others. Typical for them is also a heavily inflated and positive, but unrealistic self-concept as well as lack of interest to create intimate relationships. Within the concept of narcissism, we distinguish overt and covert narcissism, which fundamentally differ from one another regarding their correlations with different psychological concepts. We tend to perceive the overt narcissism as adaptive and covert narcissism as maladaptive component of narcissism. The concept of subjective well-being refers to the person's subjective evaluations of his or her own well-being and includes life satisfaction, positive and negative affect. Someone who is very satisfied with his life, who is often in a good mood and hardly ever experiences uncomfortable emotions, such as sadness and anger, can be deemed to have a high level of subjective well-being. Low level of subjective well-being on the other hand is reflected by dissatisfaction with one's life, rare good mood episodes, affection deprivation as well as often experiencing negative emotions, like anger and anxiety. The purpose of this master's thesis was to examine the connection between components of narcissism as personality traits and subjective well-being. 307 adult participants of all ages, regardless of the occupational status, participated in the study. We used the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-40), the Hypersensitive Narcissism Scale (HSNS), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). We set the hypotheses based on the literature we read and processed the data with the statistics program IBM SPSS Statistics 22, which enabled us to perform statistical analyses. The results of the study show that some dimensions of overt and covert narcissism indicate life satisfaction, positive and negative emotionality. Adaptive dimensions of overt narcissism positively predict life satisfaction as well as positive affect and negatively predict the negative affect. Maladaptive dimensions of overt narcissism and covert narcissism negatively predict life satisfaction and positive affect and positively predict the negative affect. The study also indicates statistically significant negative correlation between age and overt narcissism, covert narcissism and negative affect. Differences are also evident in expression of negative affect in employed and unemployed participants of the study. |
