Povzetek
The aim of this master s thesis was to examine in what way the foreign language curricula of the higher education institutions for tourism meet the needs of the tourism industry in Croatia. The research was conducted between both parties of this topic - the representatives of higher education institutions for tourism and the tourism industry representatives. The analysis of research results showed there is currently a gap between what the foreign language curricula of the higher education institutions for tourism have to provide and what the tourism industry actually needs. The research results suggested the main reasons for that gap are the absence of unique education strategy in tourism, a lack of practical work associated with tourism studies, overcrowded classrooms and insufficient learning hour rate. They also suggested possible improvements, which would make the foreign language curricula much more effective. Some of them include: the development of the unique education strategy in tourism, a more prudent choice of languages that are being taught, a limitation of enrollment quotes, an emphasised awareness of the importance of personal initiatives, the curricula with more interaction, adopting trends and successful ideas and changes in knowledge evaluation process. It is our hope this research will help in recognising the necessary changes and provide inspiration for improvements.

Cilj tega magistrskega dela je preučiti, kako učni načrti tujih jezikov visokošolskih zavodov v področju turizma ustrezajo potrebam turističnega gospodarstva na Hrvaškem. Sama raziskava je povezovala obe strani opisane teme; predstavnike visokošolskih zavodov z ene in predstavnike turističnega gospodarstva z druge strani. Analiza dobljenih rezultatov je pokazala, da trenutno obstaja razkorak med potrebami turizma in tega, kar ponuja oziroma kako je organiziran učni načrt tujih jezikov na visokošolskih ustanovah za turizem. Rezultati raziskave so hkrati pokazali, da so glavni razog za to razliko pomanjkanje edinstvenih strategij izobraževanja v turizmu, pomanjkanje s turističnimi študijami povezanega praktičega dela, prenatrpne predavalnice in nezadostno trajajoče šolske ure. Predlagane so možne izboljšave, ki bi učne načrte tujih jezikov naredile precej bolj učinkovite. Nekatere med njimi vkjučujejo razvoj edinstvene strategije izobraževanja v turizmu, preudarnejšo izbira učenih jezikov v izobraževalnih ustanovah, omejevanje vpisnih citatov, poudarek na ozaveščenost o pomembnosti osebne inicijative, učni načrti z več interakcije, sprejemanje trendov in uspešnih idej ter sprememb v postopku evalvacije znanja. V tem trenutku so cilji tega dela doseženi, predpostavke so potrjene in ostaja upanje, da bodo rezultati služili kot navdih za spremembe. |
