V 72,7 % rej so teleta nastanjena v proizvodnem hlevu.

Sekundarni naslov: Calf-Rearing Practices in the Municipality of Radlje ob Dravi
Sekundarni povzetek: The aim of this research was to determine calf feeding, housing, and management practices on farms in the Koroška region. Based on this information, effects on calf health and welfare was assessed. Our hypothesis was that there are inadequacies in almost all studied calf rearing practices, which can be improved through findings of our research. Worse situation was expected on smaller, while on bigger farms we assumed that farmers are better educated about correct calf rearing practices. The study was based on a questionnaire survey conducted in the Radlje ob Dravi Municipality. Forty farmers from this area completed the survey, which was divided into different aspects of calf rearing. The first aspect was about calf management after birth. The second was about what and how often farmers feed their calves. Questions associated with housing were in the third and in the last aspect the statistics on the incidence of calf diseases and the number of new-born and stillborn calves. The findings show that in 20.8% of the farms surveyed calves do not get a sufficient amount of colostrum and in 15.4% of the farmers surveyed, calves’ umbilical cords are not disinfected after birth. In 72.7% of the farms, calves are kept in the main production barn. The results indicate generally good calf-rearing practices as well as possibilities for improvement, which confirms our hypotheses.
