Izraza vegetarijanec in vegan bolj poznajo deklice in učenci petih razredov.

Sekundarni povzetek: "There is no love sincerer than the love of food." Bernard Shaw The final thesis consists of the theoretical and the empirical part. In the theoretical part we define and describe different alternative ways of nutrition, healthy nutrition and in connection to it the substances our bodies need to survive. The purpose of the empirical part is to examine the knowledge of alternative ways of nutrition in elementary school pupils (N = 150). The goals of the executed research are to examine their knowledge of alternative nutrition, how they eat, what is the role of parents and school in forming their eating habits, and to establish if there are differences present according to sex and level of education among the inquired students. The results were acquired with the help of a questionaire, which consisted of 11 questions of a closed type. The results have shown, that there are differences in the knowledge and comprehension of expressions such as vegeterian, vegan, raw food eater and biological food. The terms vegetarian and vegan are more familiar to girls and fifth grade pupils, whereas the terms raw food eater and biological food are more familiar to boys and fourth grade pupils. Most of the pupils were the so-called all eaters and there was only a small number of vegetarians or those eating only biologically grown food, but there were no vegans or raw food eaters among them. The results are very similar when it comes to the eating habits of their parents. Most of the pupils believe that a well-planned nutrition is good for them, moreover, even a greater number of pupils would like to learn more about alternative ways of nutrition. A great percentage of pupils claims that they did not acquire the knowledge of alternative nutrition at school; there is also a great number of pupils who believe that they do not have the opportunity to receive a vegetarian meal at school.
