Preveriti smo želeli, kako učenci pripovedujejo ob slikovni podlagi, kako in katere asociacije nanizajo ob določeni besedi in ali poznajo ustrezne protipomenke in jih uporabijo v novi povedi. Zanimalo nas je, kako koherentne in kohezivne zgodbe bodo pripovedovali učenci, ali bodo ugotovili vse protipomenke in koliko asociacij bodo nanizali. Na koncu smo vse podatke prikazali v skupni preglednici, kjer smo ugotavljali, kje so imeli prvošolci največ težav in kakšno besedišče imajo.

Sekundarni naslov: Assessing first-grade students' vocabulary through storytelling, associations, and antonyms
Sekundarni povzetek: The aim of the thesis, titled Assessing First-Grade Students' Vocabulary through Storytelling, Associations, and Antonyms, was to deduce the kind of vocabulary first grade students use. Research was done through storytelling with pictures, identifying antonyms, forming sentences by using new words and making associations. The theoretical part includes a description of the development of a child's speech from birth to late childhood, along with factors associated with speech development. What follows is a definition of listening in general, along with the types of listening that occur during primary school years. The terms vocabulary, vocabulary development, storytelling, coherence and cohesiveness, associations and antonyms are also defined. In the empirical part, first graders' vocabulary was examined. What was researched was how pupils tell stories while looking at pictures, how and which associations they make with a given word, whether they are familiar with the appropriate antonyms and their ability to use them in new sentences. We were interested in how coherent and cohesive the stories would be, whether the pupils would identify all antonyms and the number of associations they would make. The thesis concludes with a collection of all the data in a table, which shows where first graders had the most drawbacks and what kind of vocabulary they used.
