Sekundarni jezik: Angleški jezik
Sekundarni naslov: Use of educational books in kindergarten
Sekundarni povzetek: Books in an indirect and an unobtrusive manner create readers using books in their free time or to find information. Children using books better overcome everyday mental obstacles and situations while broadening their mental horizons. While searching for specific information, children acquire other skills as an added benefit. The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis was to determine how children with the assistance of educational books understand what had happened in the past, current occurrences and their thoughts for the future. This was encompassed under a project entitled, “Look at us, over time” in my thesis Use of educational books in kindergarten. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the onset of adolescent literature in Slovenia and a description of individual time periods. The didactics of adolescent literature, its goals and development of children’s receptive abilities also are presented. Rates of reading development are summarized after J.A. Appleyard and the meaning of pleasure literature or reading motives are presented according to Perry Nodelman. The empirical portion presents how children were introduced to each specific theme in the project entitled, “Look at us, over time!”. The project consisted of nine associated themes (dinosaur and ice age, prehistoric and cave man, pyramids and pharaohs, Greek games, Romans, medieval tournaments, aviation, constellation and planets as well as future predictions. A daily record of activities and summaries were recorded in which the implemented activities were evaluated. To better illustrate the project visual images are also included. The project was implemented in the day care centre Ciciban, Labod Unit in Novo mesto.
