Sekundarni povzetek: The first part of the graduation thesis presents general properties of water embankments as well as characteristics such an embankment must have. It shows embankment types, which are usually made of earth or concrete. There is also a description of a new kind of concrete: roller – compacted mass concrete. The main advantage of this concrete is its reduced time in constructing, as the new layers are carried out in a very short time. It is mainly used for building mass constructions such as large dams. Thus, the main task of this thesis is to present the possibilities of using roller – compacted mass concrete in embankment constructions. In the second part of the thesis there is a comparision between earth embankments and those made with roller – compacted mass concrete. The left bank of the hydro power plant Blanca on the river Sava was used as the earth embankment. The comparision included embankment slide stability, seepaging and costs. Taking into account the results of my comparision , I can say that the embankments made of roller – compacted mass concrete are comparable to earth embankments. However, results, especially economic ones, may vary depending on the location of the embankment ( whether in favour of roller-compacted mass concrete embankment or against it).
