This diploma paper (The Classification of Geometric Objects in the First Age Group) describes how children of that age classify objects when not given any special directions. The focus is primarily on the factor of colour, how the colour of objects influences the process of classification and whether it dominates the factor of shape. Furthermore, this paper presents the influence of the surface, intended for the solid classification.
The theoretical part lists the children’s cognitive development theories by Jean Piaget, the description of each cognitive phase is given in full detail. Furthermore, the connection between the preschool child and science is outlined, as well as the role of the adults when it comes to classification.
The empirical part of the paper describes all the activities that had been carried out with six children at the Jarše Kindergarten. The results are listed in spreadsheets and demonstrate:
• how children approached the classification without any directions,
• how successful they were in the process,
• what was their first criterion (colour or shape) during classification. |

V teoretičnem delu so opisane Piagetove teorije o otrokovem mišljenju. Podrobneje so razložene stopnje v razvoju otrokovega mišljenja.
Rezultati so zabeleženi v razpredelnicah in prikazujejo:
