Sekundarni naslov: Use of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) bark extract for preparation of beekeeping products
Sekundarni povzetek: The purpose of our thesis was to gain new honey analogous beekeeping product by feeding the bees with fir bark extracts (Abies alba Mill.) and to assess the suitability of the product as honey in addition to daily human consumption. In this regard, we first had to determine the appropriate concentration of the extract, by testing which concentrations would the bees prefere. After finding out an appropriate concentration, we prepared large quantities of solutions and fed the bee colonies per supply. The first colony was fed with dry extract and the other with liquid extract, the third colony only with sugar solution and all three solutions were supplemented with beetroot juice. The gained product and food were used for further testing with spectrophotometer, where we found that the quantity of beetroot juice and of the extract were less in the product. Similar, trend was demonstrated using the Folin-Ciocalteu's method. We have also carried out sensory analysis of four kinds of honey, including our product. We demostrated that the bark fir extract was present in the product, however we would have to devote some attentions to oxidation of beetroot pigments besides the technolohy of feeding.
