Games and toys through time |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
One of the oldest and most beautiful things in the world are toys and the sight of children playing with them. According to Curriculum for kindergartens, children’s play is an activity which is its own purpose and changes the child’s relationship to reality. It is internally motivated, free, open and pleasant for a child. Toys are the basis of children’s play and at the same time a tool of education which encourages a child to observe, develop various skills, think and combine, persevere and cooperate. A child must have an age appropriate toy which has to be labelled with the ‘good toy’ mark. Children games and toys have not changed much through history but what has changed are materials and the way they are produced. Until the Second World War, there were big differences between games and toys of children from the city and children from the rural areas. However, nowadays such differences are no longer present since toys are accessible to everybody. In the past, play time was adapted to the rhythm of work and rest. Children mostly played while on a pasture, on Sundays and in the winter. Nowadays, children do not play as much as they used to. In the past decade, children’s play has moved from children playgrounds into children’s rooms. They watch cartoons on the television and play games on the computer. Dolls, wooden blocks, trains, balls, wooden rocking horses and board games used to be the most popular toys, but have nowadays been replaced with Barbie Dolls and Lego’s. However, kids do still play some games from the past like hide-and-seek … Through games and toys, children get to know the material world around them, develop their skills, create their own world and let their imagination run free. Children’s play also leads a child into a world of socialization and cohabitation. |

Igrače so osnova otrokove igre in hkrati vzgojno sredstvo, ki otroka spodbuja k opazovanju, razvijanju različnih spretnosti, razmišljanju in kombiniranju, vztrajnosti in sodelovanju. Otrok mora imeti svoji starosti primerno igračo. Le-ta mora imeti tudi znak »dobra igrača«. Igre in igrače se skozi zgodovino niso dosti spreminjale, razen v materialih in načinu izdelave. Do druge svetovne vojne so bile velike razlike med igro in igračami kmečkih in mestnih otrok, danes pa ni večjih razlik, saj so igrače vsem dosegljive. Nekoč so bile igre prilagojene ritmu dela in počitka. Danes sta najbolj uspešni in priljubljeni igrači barbika in lego kocke. Še vedno pa se otroci igrajo nekatere igre iz preteklosti: skrivanje, ristanci, gnilo jajce, ali je kaj trden most … Preko igre in igrače otrok spoznava materialni svet okoli sebe, razvija svoje sposobnosti, ustvarja svoj lastni svet, odpira vrata domišljiji in ne nazadnje – z igro vstopa v svet druženja in sobivanja. |
