Sekundarni povzetek: Wood ash is a high quality waste that is generated by thermal utilization of fresh and waste wood. The material is too valuable to waste it. Ashes are often found unsuitable for disposal at landfills or for direct application due to their fine powder consistency, high content of soluble substances, unburned carbon fraction or their high alkalinity. With relatively simple procedures they can be processed to a form suitable for utilization or disposal. These processes are: spontaneous or forced carbonization, granulation, preparation of artificial soil or their integration into other complementary waste like compost and sewage sludge. Options of handling wood ashes are represented in this study. At first the treatment of waste wood ashes in Slovenia and Europe has been reviewed. In the experimental part an attempt of stabilization of wood ash by means of spontaneous or forced carbonization has been studied.on two fresh industrial ash samples. End products from the ash sample P2 has quality characteristics that allow its use in various areas. It can be used in forests ecosystems, landfill construction (top covering layers), for covering mine tailings, geotechnical uses or for fertilization in agriculture and improvement of acidic soils, which allows mineral structure and the corresponding pH of these products. The ash sample P1 was more difficult to process. After the carbonatization process some parameters were above limit values. For more environmentally demanding ashes - according to the latest studies - carbonatization taking longer time periods should be implemented using pre-wetted samples to get acceptable product quality characteristics.

Povzetek (ePrints): Odpadni lesni pepel je kakovosten odpadek kurjenja lesa, ki ima preveliko vrednost, da bi ga odlagali na odlagališča odpadkov in ne s pridom izkoriščali. Njegovo direktno odlaganje ali neposredna aplikacija na različnih področjih je omejena, predvsem zaradi njegove praškaste konsistence, vsebnosti vodotopnih snovi, vsebnosti nezgorelega lesa (oglja) in močne bazičnosti. Z relativno enostavnimi postopki ga lahko privedemo v obliko primerno za snovno izrabo oz. za odlaganje. Ti postopki so: spontana ali vsiljena karbonatizacija, granuliranje, integriranje odpadka v zemeljski izkop oz. priprava umetne zemljine ali integriranje v drug komplementaren odpadek (komposti, blata …). V diplomski nalogi sem predstavil možne postopke ravnanja z odpadnimi lesnimi pepeli pri nas in v Evropi ter v eksperimentalnem delu naloge prikazal enega od postopkov predelave odpadnega lesnega pepela v stabiliziran produkt. To je karbonatizacija z ogljikovim dioksidom pod različnimi pogoji. Na koncu sem iz pepela P2 dobil produkt ustreznih karakteristik, ki omogočajo njegovo uporabo na različnih področjih. Bodisi za sanacijo gozdnih in degradiranih tal, kot prekrivka odlagališč ali drugih odpadkov (rudarskih jalovin), v gradbeništvu, za razna sanacijska zemeljska dela, še najbolj pa se uporabljajo v kmetijstvu za gnojenje in izboljševanje kislih prsti, kar omogoča njegova bogata mineralna struktura in ustrezen pH. Pepel P1 je bil težavnejši za obdelavo. Po končanem postopku karbonatizacije vsi parametri niso zadoščali kriterijem mejnih vrednosti. Da bi tudi iz takšnih pepelov, ki so okoljsko zahtevnejši dobili produkt ustreznih karakteristik, bi bilo potrebno karbonatizacijo izvajati dalj časa in s predhodnim vlaženjem, na kar lahko sklepam po najnovejših raziskavah, ki so bile narejene na tem področju.
