Feasibility of re-establishment the passenger railway line Ljubljana-Kočevje |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
According to Slovenian railway statistics there are too few railway users in Slovenia. Therefore in the first part of this graduation thesis a rail as alternative mean of transport and factors that influence on decision to use railway transport are presented. We can achieve better modal split for railway with attractive timetable, high train frequency and public awareness of the rail and road transport environment impacts. A railway transport is also a good solution for the road congestions reduction at peak hours. This graduation thesis discusses road congestions on road Kočevje-Ljubljana, where in the peak hours a road congestion trough Škofljica occurs daily. Traffic volume was analyzed according to automatic traffic detectors data. Drivers on this road have only one alternative, bus service, which can't compete with personal traffic due to long travel time and high fare. At the moment the railway line Grosuplje-Kočevje renewal is in progress and is analyzed in this graduation thesis.
Good solution for road congestion reduction is to divert daily migrants to the train, so our goal was to develop passenger-friendly schedule. For timetable construction a train dispatching and timetable theory knowledge is required. Railway infrastructure on the line Ljubljana-Kočevje, train running on this line and the timetable has been modeled with the software OpenTrack, which simulates the railway traffic. Our goal was to verify if the renovated railway infrastructure Ljubljana - Kočevje allows the introduction of cyclic timetable with train departure every 40 minutes from Kočevje to Ljubljana and train departure every 20 minutes from Grosuplje to Ljubljana. Existing timetable on line Ljubljana-Novo mesto was taken into account. |
