Ob tej so jima pripisane še vloge nosilca ali nosilke vodilne ideje, usodne ženske, uresničevalke hrepenenja, pohujševalke in odrešitelja oziroma odrešiteljice slovenskega naroda.

Sekundarni povzetek: The Roma, who left India more than 1500 years ago and migrated to various countries all over the world, including Slovenia, have always been seen as something "other" and "strange". The 19th century along with Romanticism - mainly focused on exoticism, primitive culture, mysteriousness, the imitation of folk ballads, music, fairytales, and superstition - aroused interest of scientists, artists, musicians, and writers, who collected material for their work from professional and scientific articles of non-Romani observers and writers of the Roma history whose contributed content has brought several prejudices and stereotypes. In Slovenian literature, Romani people appear rather frequently. This diploma thesis is focused on Janez Trdina, Ivan Cankar, and some of their literary works from the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. With the help of lexical and structural analysis and on the basis of imagology - the interdisciplinary literary science and a branch of comparative literature that explores images of the "Other" in literature, among which it is particularly interested in stereotypical images - we investigated the depictions of the Roma as presented in selected works of the two authors. We ascertained that Janez Trdina remains within the limits of stereotypical notions. On the contrary, stereotypes are exceeded in the literature of Ivan Cankar. His male and female Romani characters are a synonym for an artist or a bohemian. Additionally, they are representatives of the leading idea; she is femme fatale, a fulfiller of desire, a corrupter of morals; they are saviours of the Slovenian nation.
