diplomsko delo

Sekundarni naslov: USING ELECTRONIC COURSEWARE FOR TEACHING BIOLOGY IN UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Sekundarni povzetek: The purpose of this diploma work is to find out why it is important to use electronic materials (in continuation: e-materials) during/with biology lessons in secondary schools. E-materials with biology lessons can be a good teaching accessory for lecturing. This is why it is good to know how well the teachers are familiar with them and their usability. E-materials are also a good learning means; with their help students can independently participate and get to know the topic easily. We compared e-materials for biology which are on slovene educating network (in continuation: SIO), to other school subjects. With a questionnaire we passed to biology teachers in secondary schools, we found out about the current state of knowledge and use of e-materials. We did a research in which we wanted to establish whether teachers on secondary schools use e-materials which are accessible on SIO, how often do they use them and what do they think of their usability, which are the pros and cons they came across. What we found out is that teachers do use them, but only with frontal lessons. Students do not use them individually. The reason for this are classrooms with a lack of computers. Still, teachers agree that e-materials have more positive than negative characteristics. The questionnaire, which was made exclusively for this reserach, has been passed to 300 biology teachers who teach on secondary schools, but only 114 questionnaires were filled in and sent back. The survey was done in may 2012. The questionnaire on opinions of e-materials use with biology lessons was also filled in by students who individually used e-materials during the lessons. 158 students were tested. Later, we compared the amount of new-found knowledge within the classical lessons and the one with the use of e-materials. E-materials for biology lessons in secondary schools, found on SIO, were analysed also from the technical and didactic point of view as well as through the content. We established that e-materials from different authors differ in many categories What is more, some of them include professional mistakes.
