In kindergartens children increasingly encounter other children of different cultural backgrounds. Differences in society as well as in kindergartens usually trigger disapproval, resistance sometimes stereotypes and prejudice. In most children's literature one can read that playing motivates and attracts children to necessary learning. So it is necessary for preschool children to accept each other's differences in various ways for example through social games and other experiences. Experiencing differences should be something positive and good for children also thanks to their teachers.
This diploma work is based on a project called »The Frog and the Foreigner«, which is intended for children of the upper preschool level and of a mixed linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The main purpose of this project is to ensure plenty of positive experiences while encountering similarities and differences among each other. At the same time, we have tried to enable the children to see differences as good, positive, as an advantage and also we have inspired them to develop critical thinking and to find different non-violent ways of dealing with problems which lead to consensus.
