Povzetek

Z magistrskim delom skušam osvetliti vprašanja, kje, kdaj in kako se je razvijala Gimnazija Brežice skozi zgodovino. Namen je bil predstaviti začetke šolstva na Slovenskem in v Brežicah, delovanje frančiškanskega rodu v mestu ter delovanje same gimnazije od leta 1945 do danes. Predvsem sem želela prikazati, kako je potekalo posamezno šolsko leto, katere dejavnosti so se v tem času dogajale na šoli, zapisati pomembne dogodke in spoznati njeno zgodovino. Osredotočila sem se tudi na predstavitev občine Brežice, v kateri deluje gimnazija. Na njene značilnosti, kako se je mesto razvijalo in s tem vplivalo na razvoj šolstva v Brežicah. Prav grof Jurij Frankopan je bil zaslužen za začetke poučevanja v naših krajih. Dal je zgraditi samostan, ki je služil kot meščanska šola samo za dečke. Gimnazijo sem opisala od leta 1945 do 2014, saj se je v tem času zgodil velik preskok na področju poučevanja in sprememb na šoli. Pouk se je v starejših obdobjih, a tudi danes, izvajal v prostorih nekdanjega samostana, ki je pomemben mejnik zgodovine v Posavju, predvsem pomemben je bil prihod frančiškanov v Brežice in njihovo delovanje. Po drugi svetovni vojni, 8. septembra 1945, je ministrstvo ustanovilo Gimnazijo Brežice, s poukom so začeli mesec kasneje. Danes ima Gimnazija Brežice močno zasidrane korenine v mreži slovenskih gimnazij. Obiskuje jo veliko število dijakov, tudi iz sosednjih občin. Leta 2013 so zaključili s prenovo šole, vendar je na njej ostal pridih samostana. Prenovili so notranje prostore, dodali omarice za dijake, obnovili zunanji del z vrtom in uredili podstrešje. V magistrskem delu sem uporabila predvsem deskriptivno metodo, ki temelji na opisovanju dejstev, odnosov in procesov brez vzorčnega razlaganja in zgodovine, metodo raziskovanja, ki temelji na raziskovanju bližnje in daljne preteklosti. Uporabila sem postopek zbiranja podatkov na podlagi zapisanih kronik, ki sem jih dobila na šoli, v Zgodovinskem arhivu v Celju in Knjižnici Brežice. Raziskovalni problem, ki sem si ga zadala, sem dosegla z raziskovanjem šolskih kronik, v katerih sem našla vse podatke o tem, kaj se je z gimnazijo dogajalo v tem obdobju.

Sekundarni povzetek: With this dissertation I am trying to throw light upon the questions where, when and how the high school Gimnazija Brežice has developed through history. The intention was to introduce the beginnings of the educational system in Slovenia and in Brežice, the functioning of the Order of St. Francis of Assisi in the town as well as the operating of the high school itself from 1945 until today. I wanted to present how an individual school year had passed by, which activities had been happening at school at the time, note down important events and to recognize its history. I have also focused on the introduction of the Brežice Commune where the high school is operating. On its characteristics, on how the town has been developing in with its development influenced the evolution of the educational system in Brežice. Count Jurij Frankopanski himself was deserving for the beginnings of teaching in our area. He had a monastery built for the use of a civil school for boys only. I have described the high school from 1945 to 2014, because during this period a huge leap was made in the area of teaching and changes that happened afterwards. Lessons in the older era as well as today took place in the facilities of the former monastery which is an important milestone of history in the Posavje region. Especially important had also been the arrival of the Franciscans to Brežice and their operation. After World War II, on 8th September 1945, the Ministry founded the high school Gimnazija Brežice, lessons started a month later. Today the high school Gimnazija Brežice is deeply rooted in the network of Slovene high schools. It is attended by a great number of students, also from the neighbouring communes. In 2013 the renovation of the school was finished, yet the touch of the monastery is still present. The interior was renovated, the lockers for students were added, the exterior was restored and the attic was arranged. In the dissertation I have mostly used the descriptive method which is based on the description of facts, relations and processes without the sample explanation and the history of the research method which is based on the research of the near and distant past. I have used procedure of collecting information, on the basis of written chronicles which I had gotten at the school, at the Historical archives in Celje and at the Library Brežice. I have achieved the investigative problem I had set upon myself by researching the school chronicles where I found all the data about what had been happening with the high school in that period of time.
