(diplomsko delo)
Povzetek
V življenju pacienta z demenco imajo pomembno vlogo njegovi svojci.

COOPERATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE NURSING TEAM WITH THE RELATIVES OF PATIENTS WITH DEMENTIA |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
In the life of a patient with dementia his relatives play a very important role. They are often in a situation to decide on behalf of the patient or to cooperate with medical professionals and look for solutions to improve the lives of the sick relatives. Members of the nursing team need to assist in this task in order to help and relieve their burden.
In the thesis, which consists of theoretical and empirical work, there are given types of dementia, causes, symptoms and communication with dementia patients and their family members about the problems they are facing.
Dementia is a degenerative disease, a set of signs and symptoms that appear differently depending on the age of the patient and the type of disease. The symptoms of dementia are dependent on the type and degree of dementia and from day to day change.
The empirical part presents the analysis of a questionnaire filled in by relatives of a patient with dementia in the home environment. The study involved the Spominčica Šentjur association. Relatives meet in different parts of Slovenia in the context of self-help groups. The questions were related to the actions of members of the nursing team in the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of health care, who met the relatives of a patient with dementia. The results showed that relatives are not completely satisfied with the participation of the members of the nursing team, but they are extremely confident. Living with dementia patients is difficult and stressful. Relatives often find themselves in distress and dilemma. In such moments the role of the nursing team is crucial. They listen to the problem and try to find a solution for a given situation. Relatives attend self-help groups within the Spominčica Šentjur association, where they get some advice from a health care professional, but they also have a chance to talk with relatives of other dementia patients. |
