magistrsko delo

What is happening to textuality in essays of Slovenian grammar school graduates? |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The master's thesis What is happening to textuality in essays of Slovenian grammar school graduates? focuses on observation of textuality in the selected research sample of the final exam essays. Textuality is a defining feature of a text and refers above all to coherence, i.e. thematic, profound, logical-semantic integration of parts into a whole, and cohesion, i.e. grammatical, surface, syntactic-semantic integration into a whole. Both features of textuality interweave and significantly affect each other. Without developed competence of creating and receiving a text we cannot talk about developed communication competence, and an individual cannot live an autonomous and sovereign full life without it, as communication is one of fundamental human social activities. Teaching textuality is therefore an essential part of modern teaching of Slovene as the first language or the mother tongue, whereas examining the development of this competence is part of the final exam in Slovene. The aim of this master's work is to research whether the level of textuality in the final exam essays has been changing over the years, how students achieve that their essays have coherent as well as cohesive effect or which linguistic devices help them most often to achieve that, and what is the influence of essay instructions on textuality of the final exam essays. |
