Povzetek

V diplomski nalogi z naslovom Skulptura, človek in beseda raziskujem prakse moderne in sodobne umetnosti. Sledi poglavje, posvečeno fotografiji in fotoperformansom.

Sekundarni povzetek: In the diploma work entitled The Sculpture, Man and Word I explore the practices of the modern and the contemporary art. The theoretical part begins with sculpture, wire and iron as materials and with the artists that have been active within this particular field. These artists are Picasso, Gonzalez and Calder in the 1920s and 1930s, and David Smith at the turn of the century. I continue by taking a look at the following practices: readymade, fluxus, performance and conceptual art. These are new directions of the 20th-century art that have distanced themselves from the traditional art. This is followed by a chapter dedicated to photography and photo-performance. The practice of photo-performance was developed and utilized by numerous artists, such as Jürgen Klauke, Bruce Nauman, Cindy Sherman and others. The practice of using words in fine and conceptual arts is described as a subject of great importance. This specific field can be found in numerous examples of modernism and contemporary art. By using works of art as examples I point at the possibilities of combinations, messages, meanings. The examples range from Cubism, Dadaism and Pop Art to monumental street projections or playing with light. My creative work contains virtually all components described in the theoretical part. As it can be seen from the title, I have played with sculpture that contains text and is photographed in the presence of humans. The pedagogical part was carried out in the School of Drawing and Painting which is an extra-curricular activity for children. I presented them a part of this subject and, based upon that knowledge, they carried out their conceptual art tasks.
