Sekundarni naslov: The influence of swimming exercise on motor development in Zasavje children
Sekundarni povzetek: In the thesis titled The Influence of Swimming on Motoric Development of Children in Zasavje we wanted to determine the influence of swimming on motoric development of children. In the theoretical part we elaborated on the history of swimming and furthermore focused on various aspects of the importance of the ability to swim. In addition, we provided instructions as to what is the best time to start teaching swimming as well as summed up some basic issues related to teaching non-swimmers. Moreover, motoric development in children and motoric abilities improved and developed by swimming were highlighted. In the empirical part, motoric tests results based on causative non-experimental method were presented. The survey included non-probability sample of 40 children from specific population, 20 children from Hrastnik kindergarten and 20 children from Hrastnik swimming school. Each group comprised of 10 girls and 10 boys, aged 5 to 7. Tests results were processed by means of descriptive statistics. To establish the differences between the two groups of children and for consequential evaluation of the set hypothesis, data was analysed with the use of t-test for independent samples. The results of data processing confirmed the hypotheses which we previously set forth, namely, that swimming has positive effect on motoric development of children since those children who attended swimming school achieved better motoric test results compared to the children from the kindergarten. There is also a characteristic statistical difference between the two groups (p = 0,024; p < 0,05).
