| Secondary abstract: | Identity develops through periods of growth and since the picture book is the first real book with which a child becomes acquainted, this article shows with the help of a typology to what degree the issues of identity and otherness are reflected in the picture book form. Another interesting issue is the quality of picture books with this subject-matter and their ethical dimension. |
