Abstract

V diplomski nalogi me bo zanimalo, kako je punk glasba reflektirala socialno in politično dogajanje v Veliki Britaniji v sedemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja.

Secondary title: Punk rock as protest music in the UK in the 1970s
Secondary abstract: The 1970s were a period of social, economic and political unrest in Great Britain. It was a period of high unemployment, inflation, civil unrest, racial unrest and a general state crisis. In response to the situation in the country, a punk subculture was created by the alienated working class. They expressed their frustrations through the music and fashion they created. In addition to the state of their country, punks also criticized the music industry, record labels and musicians. Both pursued only their own interests for the sake of making as much money as possible, alienating from their audiences. Punk music was the main weapon of punks, through which they expressed their dissatisfaction, alienation, criticism and protest. In my thesis, I will be interested in how punk music reflected socio-political events in the UK in the 1970s. My main goal is to show that the punk subculture emerged in response to the then economic, political, social and cultural situation in the UK.
