Abstract

Secondary title: Teacher's role in promoting social interactions among children in kindergarten
Secondary abstract: Children are faced with a new, unknown environment and several different social relations when entering the environment of a kindergarten. In our diploma thesis, we focused on social relations among children, how they are developing and what kind of role do kindergarten professional workers have in the development of children's social relations. Our research included 100 kindergarten professional workers (teachers and their assistants). Based on the results of our research, we found out that professional workers see family, kindergarten and children's peers as very important factors for the child's social development. According to kindergarten professional workers, expressing, recognising and controlling emotions has a very important role in child's social development. In their opinion, the most important relationship is the one that a child has with their parents. Children occasionally struggle with adjusting to the group and establishing social relations with other children. Most professional workers think that establishing a sense of security and conversation are the most important ways on how they can impact the social development of a child. When dealing with antisocial behaviours, most professional workers use the method of conversation, and they reward a prosocial behaviour with a praise. Most of the kindergarten professional workers often perform activities for developing social skills of the children.
