Secondary abstract: | Slovene poetry reached the Russian reader in the second half of the 19th century. One of the most effective in this area was the Soviet period: from 1948 to 1990 more than seventy Slovene authors were translated into Russian, including such significant figures as France Prešeren, Ivan Cankar and Oton Župančič. One result of the Soviet/Russian translators' activities was two anthologies of twentieth century Slovene poetry published in 1989 and 2008. |
