Abstract

Prispevek obravnava različne pristope prevajalcev k prevajanju naslovov proznih del.

Secondary abstract: This article discusses the different approaches translators take to translating the titles of prose works. The matter seems important not only because the title must retain its main functions in the target language; a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between the original title and the work is also needed, as well as a consideration of the "representational" role of the title in a secondary cultural setting. Attention is devoted to the titles of selected novels and collections of short prose, titles that retain a characteristic element of foreignness, and those that deviate greatly from the titles of the originals.
