With children aged 5 to 6 years, we produce map |
Secondary abstract: |
In the thesis I wanted to determine, by means of using technology and active participation of children, whether children can grasp the concept of a map. According to some theories, children at the preoperative level of development, are not yet capable of this. They should have been able to do this only at the level of concrete operations.
Thus, the theoretical part focuses on how children acquire concepts and know-how and what are their reception and learning processes like.
In the practical part we, by utilising children's active participation, map out Slovenia's regions and create a map of the world with continents and a map of Ljubljana. These maps were made of wooden plywood. On the map of Ljubljana the children placed Prešernov spomenik, Nebotičnik, Zmajski most and Ljubljana Castle and, in so doing, oriented according to certain characteristics that allow orientation. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
