Abstract

Secondary title: Nora Roberts in Slovene translation
Secondary abstract: In the graduation thesis, we have presented that novel Born in Shame is a work of popular fiction, as it comprises characteristics and elements of popular fiction. We have also seen translational shifts in Slovene translation of the novel which occur because of cultural, social and linguistic differences. Through analysis of the novel Born in Shame and Slovene translation of the novel, we have found numerous examples indicating popular fiction and examples showing translational shifts and problems; here, we discussed the problems or indicated an adequate solution and method or methods of translation. In the second part of the graduation thesis, we have presented family, parenthood, motherhood, fatherhood, childhood, biological and social parenthood, family law, legal relations between children and their parents, children's rights and child's right to be informed of his or her biological father in relation to different circumstances in which the child is conceived or born and which determine whether the child has the right to be informed of his or her biological father or not.
