Povzetek

Prevajanje strokovnih besedil pri Evropski komisiji ne implicira samo prevajanja primarne in sekundarne zakonodaje Evropske unije, ampak tudi prevajanje nacionalnih zakonodaj držav članic. Tovrstna besedila smo iz funkcijskega vidika umestili med izvršilna, zavezujoča in prikazovalna po Kusterjevi ter praktičnosporazumevalna in strokovna po Toporišiču in Jemec Tomazinovi; glede na njihovo primarno funkcijo smo jih natančneje opredelili kot strokovna. Glede na funkcijsko zvrstnost pravnega jezika smo le-tega povzeli po Cao kot normativnega, performativnega, strokovnega in nedoločnega. Drugi del naloge vsebuje kontrastivno primerjavo desetih naključno izbranih besedil in ugotovljena odstopanja, združena v pet večjih kategorij. Obravnavani prevodi precej bolj odstopajo od norme, ki jo določata Slovenska slovnica (2004) in Slovenski pravopis (2003), kot od jezikovne norme, ki jo določata Medinstitucionalni slogovni priročnik (2015) in Slogovni priročnik Komisije (2010). Količinska analiza kategorij odstopanj med izvirniki in prevodi je pokazala, da je pravopisnih in slovničnih napak nasploh (tj. ne glede na slovensko ali "evropsko" normo) veliko več kot polovica. Druga odstopanja se vežejo na pomanjkljivosti, vezane predvsem na sam postopek prevajanja in ne izključno na končni izdelek tega postopka. Vzorec je glede na letno objavljeno količino besedil kljub vsemu dokaj majhen, zato rezultatov ne posplošujemo na splošno kakovost besedil, ki jih objavlja zadevni Generalni direktorat Komisije.

Sekundarni povzetek: Translation of technical texts for the European Commission does not imply only the translation of primary and secondary legislation of European Union but also the translation of national legislations of Memeber States. From the functional point of view, we cathegorized these kinds of texts as executive, binding and illustrative according to Kuster, and as practical communicative and as technical texts according to Toporišič and Jemec Tomazin; in view of their primary function, we classified them further as technical. Legal language as a functional genre is summarised according to Cao as normative, performative, technical and indeterminate. Second part of the thesis contains a contrastive comparison of ten randomly selected texts and identified derogations grouped into five larger categories. Translations in question derogate considerably more from the norm laid down by Slovene grammar (2004) and Slovene orthography (2004) than from the norm laid down by Interinstitutional Style Guide (2015) and Commission Style Guide (2010). Quantitative analysis of the derogation categories of source texts and translations has shown that grammatical and ortographical derogations (i. e. regardless of Slovene or "European" norm) amount to more that half of all derogations. Other derogations are associated with shortcomings connected mostly to the translation process itself and not exclusively to the final product of this process. The sample is fairly small considering the yearly amount of published texts therefore we do not genealize the results to the general quality of texts published by the relevant Directorate-General of the Commission.
