diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Varnost in policijsko delo

Psychopatic personality on leadership positions |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
Today's leaders face many challenges. As the environment is constantly changing due to various threats and globalization, it is important to have an ambitious leader with moral judgment and emotional maturity who can rise above his own narrow-mindedness and lead with integrity. When psychopaths find themselves in leadership positions, it makes sense to think about how they can influence not only countries and companies but society in general. Psychopathy is defined as a personality disorder that is a result of genetics and environment, is incurable, and has traits that remain stable throughout life. It is well known that many psychopaths are in prison, but it is less known that many also find themselves in high positions where they concentrate on power, control, and dominance. This is where the difference between successful and unsuccessful psychopaths comes in, and they are categorized into different types. The adaptive traits present in successful psychopathic individuals, such as charm, charisma, and manipulative skills, can easily be mistaken for the competences of good leaders, which succeed in bringing them to a leadership position. The power of psychopaths seems to be present in areas where important decisions affecting millions of people are made. Psychopaths and their desire for supremacy and dominance are the main drivers for ascending to a leadership position. Once they are at the top, many of their bad characteristics, such as egocentricity, grandiosity, manipulativeness, pathological lying, selfishness, and others, prevent them from being effective and good leaders. |
