Graphic sonnets: Shakespeare's sonnets as an art motif |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The following work connects two artistic genres: poetry and visual arts - Shakespeare's sonnets and graphic arts.
This thesis deals with their similarities, differences and possibilities of translating from one artistic language to another. I began exploring this relationship by researching the concepts of shape and form, as well as the analogy of experience and translations of words into shapes. Furthermore, I write about the history of foreign and Slovenian illustration with an emphasis on illustrating poetry.
I selected a few foreign and local artists, chose some of their works and analyzed their formal aspects.
The sonnets that I discussed were translated by Janez Menart. I also touched upon the question of how the translation of a poem affects its understanding.
The empirical, which is also the focal part of this thesis, consists of graphic works based on seven Shakespeare's sonnets, grasped as my interpretations of the selected poems, which interlace the understanding of poetry and my own internal contents.
In the closing pedagogical part, I describe my experience with primary school students. I tried to acquaint them with poetry so dear to me and which undoubtedly belongs to the top of English and world literature. The students created works by using the graphic techniques of monotype and printing with stencils. |

Učenke so ustvarjale v grafičnih tehnikah monotipije in tiska s šablonami. |
