The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to discover, whether it is possible to include younger children (from age one to two) into the program Little Sunshine, which was originally established for children aged from two to six. Throughout the literature we were discovering a variety of development features of pre-school children, from their birth to entering primary school. We focused on different teaching approaches for individual development periods.
Features, defined by the specifics of child's development in individual development period, differ substantially. Consequently the methods in the educational process have to be adapted, changed or even opted out. We discovered that methods, which we use in motor/sports, reflective, rudimentary and basic mobile phase are not adequate, since we do not achieve the goals or the methods prove to make no sense.
Motor/sports program Little Sunshine is a program, based on the curriculum for kindergartens and aimed at diversification/enrichment of the activities. With distinction to more process oriented curriculum and consequently to the manner of work with a child, scholar literature shows smaller gaps between the programs, especially due to slightly more goal oriented program.
We have set two goals of the bachelor degree: the analysis of the content of the program Little Sunshine and the presentation of possible solutions for children, which are not included in the program Little Sunshine – the blue. With the realization of the both goals, we researched, whether it is possible to expand the program and carry it out among children, aged between one and two. For research we used a causal experimental method of pedagogic research with an active research on a case study. Throughout research we found out that younger children, aged between one and two, can be included into the program Little Sunshine, if proper adaptations are made. We only have to adapt the method and reorganize the space. Especially the number of elements has to be adapted (expanding or limiting the number), the time has to be shorter, the elements have to be more colorful and attractive and the verbal communication should be limited. The space has to be organized in a way that encourages proper movement reactions of the children. Such an adapted program can be carried out by a kindergarten teacher within a mixed group of children or within the group of children aged one to two. The program for children aged one to two could be called Little Sunshine – the violet. Doing so, the program could encompass all children. |
