During the period of acquaintance with children and their parents, the teachers’ main goal is establishing a successful and effective collaboration between the kindergarten and parents. They are both aimed at providing the optimal development as well as a happy and healthy childhood. The diploma thesis treats the collaboration of kindergarten with parents when children enter the early childhood division. Furthermore, the diploma thesis presents the parents’ experiences and satisfaction with the development and procedures related to the introduction to kindergarten.
The theoretical part describes the kindergarten as an institution, the historical development of kindergarten in Slovenia as well as the Kindergarten Curriculum, which represents the basis for the preparation of educational activities. The diploma thesis presents also the role of the teacher and its development throughout time as well as the skills that are required when working with children. The second chapter discusses children and their development on the physical as well as on the personal and psychological level. Another important topic is family and kindergarten. Along with the basic role of the family, the thesis treats also educational styles and focuses mainly on the collaboration of the kindergarten with parents. The final chapter presents the first contact with kindergarten – entering the kindergarten, time and manner of introduction, helpful golden rules and children’s response.
The empirical part is based on an anonymous questionnaire, which was used to get an overview on how many information had the parents gained before their children entered the kindergarten and how had they received these information. Furthermore, it asked the parents about the length and development of the introductory period, their experiences with the introductory period and their satisfaction with the collaboration with the kindergarten. The parents were asked to present the reasons for their dissatisfaction and to provide their opinions, proposals and eventual commendations. |
