The purpose of the thesis is to present the importance of the cultural life among Carinthian Slovenians and numerous institutions which provide support for them in cooperation with the mother country and language maintenance. The first part presents the historical development of Slovenianness in the Austrian Carinthia, specific geographical characteristics and other important points (plebiscite, World War II, ASP, "Ortstagelsturm", special census), which form the collective memory. Presented is the bilingualism for educational purposes, namely in kindergartens, public and main schools and higher schools in Carinthia. This is followed by the presentation of lectorates in the Austrian Carinthia, where Slovenian assistants are active for a decade. This is followed by the presentation of other cultural facilities, which have important interactions (libraries, museums, galleries, publishers, institutes) and take care for the development and existence of the Slovenian language and Slovenianness in the Austrian Carinthia. Particularly stressed out are the activities of numerous associations, choirs, organizations and the music school. Presented are also the media in this area, which are accessible to the majority population. Defined are also the historical perspective of political parties and their structure and the role of the Church and clergy in maintaining the Slovenian language, customs and cultural activities. |
