Abstract

Secondary abstract: In this article we connect the theory and practice of translating i.e. transferring a text from one language into another and from one literature and culture into another. To this end, we present the challenges that come with translating Peter Svetina’s poetry for adults into Macedonian: the literary context, the selection of the poems, as well as the particular linguistic challenges at the level of lexis and grammar that emerge from the different cultural and linguistic characteristics and influence the reception of the poems in the target language.
