Sekundarni povzetek: | The paper deals with the elements of foreign culture in literary translations. It discusses the changing views of the status of literary translations and their functions in the (Slovene) literary target system. It observes and analyses changes to various textual components and aspects of the literary source text in the Slovene translation, with a special emphasis on the impact of the current social situation on the elements of the critical reader's response at the time of its appearance. It highlights views on the foreign cultural elements in the Slovene translation of Hemingway's novel For Whom the Bell Tolls, which show how Slovene critical readers are confronted with such elements presented through the main character collaborating with a group of guerilla fighters in a life-threatening situation. |
